The Palo Alto Landfill is PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
 
Palo Alto residents and businesses can dispose of excess refuse and yard trimmings at the Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer Station (SMaRT Station).  

Free compost and mulch is available to Palo Alto residents at the SMaRT Station.
